Invisalign straightens your teeth without wires and brackets, using a series of clear, customized, removable appliances called aligners. It’s virtually undetectable, which means hardly anyone will know that you’re straightening your teeth.
Clearly Different
The Invisalign System combines advanced 3-D computer graphics technology with 100-year-old science of orthodontics. Invisalign aligners are designed to move your teeth in small steps to the desired final position prescribed by your orthodontist. Each aligner is precisely calibrated and manufactured to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan. Your first step is to visit our office to determine if Invisalign is right for you. After sending precise treatment instructions, Invisalign uses advanced computer technology to translate these instructions in a sequence of finely calibrated aligners -- as few as 12 or as many as 48. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks and only taken out to eat, brush and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will begin to move gradually -- week-by-week until the final alignment prescribed is attained. Then you'll be smiling like you never have before!

To ensure the best possible results, only an orthodontist who has been trained and certified by Align Technology can diagnose and treat using Invisalign. Invisalign is not intended for children and is not appropriate for every adult. Only an orthodontist can determine if this treatment is an effective option for you. Clear Braces vs. Metal Braces
Clear Braces - Mystique, which uses the latest aesthetic ceramic technology, provides outstanding results and high translucency. The clear braces are bonded to the tooth just like the ordinary metal braces. Treatment time with the Mystique is approximately 12-14 months depending on the difficulty of tooth movement. Adults are asking for invisible (clear) braces today. |

WHAT IS THE EUROPEAN APPROACH?
European approach to orthodontics is the treatment of the patients in the mixed dentition utilizing removable functional appliances. Patients with abnormal habits such as thumb sucking or tongue thrusting, snoring, airway problems, mouthbreathing or abnormal upper jaw - lower jaw (skeletal problems) are treated early in order to prevent the problems from getting worse. The use of functional appliances at the correct time during growth can ultimately result in the patient achieving:
- Broad beautiful smile
- Excellent functional occlusion
- Full face with beautiful lateral profile
- Stable and healthy TMJ (Jaw Joints)
Although we highly recommend early intervention, this technique is just as effective on adults. |
 |
| |
 |
|
| |
WHY THE EUROPEAN APPROACH?
Children and parents want non-extractional treatment. They want broad smile with the beautiful profile, which cannot be achieved with conventional orthodontics. |
|
| |
 |
|
| |
WHAT ARE FUNCTIONAL APPLIANCES?
European Orthodontics consists of a two-phase treatment.
Phase One: Functional Appliance |
|
|
- Ninety percent of the face is developed by age 12. If you want to guide the growth of the younger patient, you must treat early in order to modify the growth. Functional Appliances help us accomplish these objectives.
- Functional problems such as tongue thrusts, thumb sucking, airway problems (mouthbreathing or snoring), and jaw joint problems must be corrected as early as possible with functional appliances.
- Skeletal (bone) problems such as narrow or underdeveloped arches (jaws) are best treated as early as possible with Functional Appliances.

|

 |
Phase Two: Braces
Dental (teeth) problems are solved with Straight Wire Appliances (Braces) in permanent dentitions. |
|
|
| |
 |
|
| |
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
Functional Appliance (phase one) treatment usually takes 6-9 months. Most severe cases may take up to 12 months.
Braces (phase two) usually take 12 to 18 months. |

WHY IS IT CRITICAL TO CORRECT ANY FUNCTIONAL OR JAW PROBLEMS WHEN DIAGNOSED?
Importance of airways and proper breathing
Children must learn to breathe through their nose. Mouth Breathing can cause a number of problems including constricted upper jaw, teeth crossbites and facial asymmetries. Lack of oxygen is a serious problem that results from mouth breathing and can lead to poor sleep habits, which may result in poor concentration at school, daytime sleepiness, irritability, headaches, etc.
Narrow arches can affect speech
Lack of adequate space for the tongue can adversely affect a patient's speech. Some of these patients are being treated by speech pathologists. The proper development of the upper and lower arches to make adequate room for the tongue greatly enhances the ability of patients to speak normally.
Patients want broad smiles
Narrow arches caused by mouth breathing result in narrow, unattractive smiles. Parents and children alike want broad smiles, which can be accomplished by arch expansion appliances. The vital time is when the patient is actively growing in mixed dentition.
Children want healthy jaw joints
A large number of children with constricted upper jaws, deep overbites and underdeveloped lower jaw have unhealthy jaw joints due to joint compression. This can cause headaches, neck aches, dizziness, fainting, ear aches, ringing in the ears, clicking jaws, inability of jaws opening or locking jaws.
Early Treatment
Crowded teeth are the result of narrow jaws. Ideally, the upper and lower jaws should be developed at an early age in an effort to prevent or eliminate crowding of permanent teeth. Obviously, this minimizes the need for any extractions. |
