When he first came into our office 14 years ago, Liron was in dire need of orthodontic work. Prior to coming in, he was seen by two other orthodontists who couldn’t fix his difficulties with retreatment. Many people think porcelain veneers are supposed to be the lightest shade of white, large and round making your smile look very apparently cosmetically modified. This is not the case though- we can design our veneers to look however you want them to. As you can tell from the after image, Rana’s smile looks perfect and natural, quite the upgrade from her previous teeth. As for her uneven bite, she explained to us how she has lived with this bite for her entire life so she was comfortable with not changing it. All she wanted was for her upper teeth to look nicer. We of course respected the patient’s decision but it was challenging to recreate an entirely different smile while keeping the same bite she came in with. Nonetheless, the result is something we are all satisfied with in the end.
What started off as a simple orthodontic braces case turned out to be something far more interesting. Turns out, our patient Nikita has genetically missing a few teeth. Instead of keeping the spaces open and placing implants at 21, like every other orthodontist was advising, we went with a different approach. After explaining the situation to his parents, we decided to push all his back teeth forward to perfectly line up and mimic the teeth they’re supposed to be replacing- we made it more seamless by slightly reshaping the teeth. Now, he still has plenty of back teeth to chew with and a perfect lined up smile in the front with no need to get implants anymore.
Charlie has had an anterior open bite since youth. There is a space present between his upper and lower teeth which resulted in his lower jaw shifting- this protruded his lower teeth creating an uneven look he wasn’t happy with. People are quick to disregard orthodontics as a viable option in your later years of life but truthfully there is no age limit to what orthodontic work can do for you.
